Tekapo on Lake Tekapo

After Christchurch, it was time to move on to Tekapo on Lake Tekapo but first we had a walk through the Pell Forest.

Some of the trees here are big.

Then it a cruise through farmland...

...to reach Tekapo. The bridge across the outlet from the lake and beyond, the concrete dam that maintains the lake's water level and the outflow produces hydroelectricity. 

The Church of the Good Shepherd in Tekapo which features in one of the Lord of the Rings films.

 A statue of a sheep dog that was so useful in making the area a prominent sheep farming area.
