Taranaki Falls Trail

 Taranaki Falls Trail

The start of the trail, a well graded surface disappearing across heathland.
Some of the trees as the trail follows the Wairere Stream upstream.
Above the treelike it is Alpine pasture.
One of the bridges across the stream.
A tree festooned with Spanish Moss.
Another view of the stream.
Another bridge...
...from which you can see a waterfall.
But th real event is the Taranaki Falls, a view from a distance.
And several more views...
...full frontal...
...and from the other side.
Some of the undergrowth under a tree in a shelter glade.

Looking across some of the Alpine vegetation.
The Lower Tama Lake at 1280 metres elevation.
The same lake in the sun.
The Upper Tama Lake at 1400 metres.
Chateau Taranaki, a former mental asylum converted to a hotel which survived COVID but closed recently due to a lack of forward bookings.

And as we drove on to our next destination, I couldn't resist a photo of a Kiwi Rail locomotive.
