Road to Page, Lake Powell and Antelope Slot Canyon, Friday,  21st August

After the early start, sleeping on the bus was the order of the day.

Page was only developed as a town when the dam was built together with a bridge over the gorge. Our camp site was over looking the lake behind the dam and a chance to relax on the beach.

The attraction hee is Antelope Slot Canyon, a very narrow and deep gorge cut through soft sandstone rocks. The best time to visit is later in the day when the sun is at the right angle for the best photos. We had a couple of Jeeps to race across the sand to the start of the gorge.

Once inside the beautiful colours and shapes are revealed. The shaps are many and varied with outlines of Georgr Washington, the Taj Mahal, Abraham Lincoln and other famous people.

One shape was the Monument Valley butte that we had visited the day before.

The upside entrance to the gorge,,,
And the down stream exit from the gorge at the end of the tour,
