Moyogalpa ferry to the mainland and drive to La Fortuna, Wednesday 21st October

We left the Ometepetl Hotel to carry our bags the short distance to the ferry terminal opposite.

This is not what I call a kayak but there it was...I certainly wouldn't want to try to paddle it anywhere.
A quiet word between Zoe and Tracey.
Steve, Seb and Alex (obscured) at the aft of the boat.
 Steve possing by the flag.
We had some fun on the hour crossing to the mainland, Steve and Seb 'singing'.
A much better picture of Alex.
Steve with another ferry behind...after much posing and positioning to get the right photo.
Once we were out of th lee of the island the wind picked up and the sea was choppy. Note the horizon under the bar between the two funnels. There was a lot of pitch and yore and it had started to rain as well.
And in no time at all the sun came out to dry us off and get a few more pictures of ferries and Steve.

Once we had moved our bags off the boat and onto the bus we set off along the shore of Lake Nicaragua towards the border with Costa Rica. It was still windy and there was a lot of power being generated as we drove along the road.
The order crossing took a while for no particular reason that I could see other than bureaucracy. A few people in our group had only been given five day visas...not enough to get across the country as planned. The border officials didn't have the authority to reissue the visas so those with only five day visas had to appeal to a higher authority to have the original visa voided and another one issued.

But we still had to wait for bus papers and insurance before we could continue.

It wasn't far to go but the roads were poor so we had to keep the speed down so it took a while to get to La Fortuna. I was suffering from a combination of dehydration, nausea. headache and heat rash and wondered whether this was this the start of chikungunya?...the only major symptoms missing was the joint pain and fever and the more you think about something, the more you can find. My joints did ache partly from falling of the chair a few nights before and it was a hot humid evening so did I have a temperature? So I went to bed early whilst the others went out to get a briefing on adventure activities available for the next day and an evening meal.
