Foz de Ignuazu, Brazil, 10th February

We crossed the border from Puerto De Ignuazu on the Argentinian side to Foz de Ignuazu on the Brazilian side. At the camp site there were more peculiar jungle plants such as this one, a general view and a close up.

That evening some of us went to the Rafain Churriascaria Latin American Dance Show. This is billed as an all you can eatbarbeque with live entertainment. Just like the advert said, there was a wide selection of food choices and not just local but also Sushi, Italian, Chinese and Indian. Just a few photos of the show, themed on dances and music from each Central and Latin American countries.
Tango from Argentina.
Music from Mexico.
The unmistakeable green and yellow from Brazil.
An then it was a couple of long drive days to get in Mato Grosso province and explore the Pantanal, a large flat area and the worlds largest wetland, larger than half of France and full of unique fauna and flora. But first we had two days drive to get there with little change in the scenery, rolling countryside of largely farmland and straight roads.

We stopped in Bonita for a couple of days to rest end oute to The Patronal. It was a great little place with a swimming pool although we were camping. Upgrades to a room were available but were expensive and the camping area was flat, sandy, shady and it was hot and despite being the rainy season, it promised to be dry for the next few days.

There was plenty of opportunity to try the local delicacies with a brew pub with more than forty different beers but no draft beer.
On the menu were various unusual meats. I tried the caiman, a succulent and tasty white meat.

And of course you can't came to Brzil and not taste piranha. They are round fish the size off a small plate but about the same thickness so there is not much meat on just one fish. The best meat is the cheek, and not surprising given their sharp teeth and reputation for biting through anything. This not the place for a quick dip in the river and you don't even dip your finger into the water.

And a chance to get aa few more different photos of vochos!
