Whitehorse at last again!

Thursday 9th July
I have survived bear country and have made it all the way from Whitehorse to Dawson over nearly 800kms paddling my canoe over the last three weeks and I have returned to Whitehorse and civilisation for a couple of days of rest and recuperation before the next section. I am back in internet connection land so I need to catch up with some blog posts over the next few days so there will be a flurry of posts.

Takhini River Monday 22nd June

First section of the trip is a week paddling from Whitehorse to Carmacks. There were 14 of us in seven canoes with multiple nationalities, myself, an American, two Canadians, the lead guide was a French Canadian and nine German speakers and to the shame of those of us who only speak English, everyone spoke good English.

We unloaded the canoes and sorted out our kit to put in at the junction of the Takhini River with the Yukon, a few kilometre from Whitehorse.

We were soon away and a great photo of Bob from Minnesota and Norman from Germany on our first morning on the river and a photo of the group just capturing, Benny (short for Benoit, the French Canadian lead guide) and the whole group spread across the river.
