Puerto Ordaz
We moved on from Ciudad Guayana to Puerto Ordaz, named after the first Spanish explorer to discover the Orinoco. The town was founded and developed as a model city using the latest city planning methods in 1952. It was built to export iron ore from the interior into ships bound for steel plants in North America. We stopped in a model, purpose built hotel with excellent facilities.Reception.
The swimming pool and one side of the central plaza.
Another corner of the plaza and out of shot in the corner is an avery with colourful parrots inside.
A staircase connecting different levels and unseen at the base is a pond full of terrapins, some the size of dinner plates.
A detail of the windows.
