Manama, Bahrain,

 Manama, Bahrain,

I went for a walk from the hotel north to the coast to follow the shoreline round to the Bahrain Fort and Museum. The museum housed in a modern white building displays some of the artefacts dug up by archaeologists. They cover a period of more than four millenia that this area has been occupied by various civilisations.

The museum overlooks the old harbour, now silted up and a favoured spot for seabirds.
At the landward end of the harbour is the old coastl fort, largely just ruins.

The old coastal fort with the white walls of the museum in the distance.
Just next door to thecoastal fort is another fort, younger and with several updates to the fortifications made by the Portuguese.
A view along the moat on the seaward side of the fort.
One of the corner bastions.
Just inside the fort's main entrance.
