Rüdesheim am Rhein and Siegfried's Mechanical Music Box Museum

Rüdesheim am Rhein and Siegfrieds Mechanical Musical Box Museum

It was busy in the town as its hosts the annual Harley Davidson get together and the were thousands of bikes, riders and enthusiasts thronging the town and all the cafes and restaurants were full.

The first stop was the Siegfried's Mechanical Music Box Museum housed in a charming half timbered house with a tower. Inside the hut with the open doors is a giant music box playing to welcome visitors.
A view of the front of the museum to the right of the tower.
There are any beautifully designed and manufactured pieces.
I
A musical box that has metal disc with slots in it to play the tune.
A musical box showing the paper reel with holes cut into it to play the music in the lower half and some of the drums and strings.

A machine that was based on a piano but included  a host of other instruments.

A fairground style musical box with moving people appearing to play some instruments.

An early phonograph produced by Edison and still produces a good sound.
A huge machine that can play a large variety of songs based around a piano and within the tp columns are ten violins.

A street organ style of a musical box.

it was time for a Rüdesheim coffee, a local delicacy. Sugar is placed in the bottom of the cup and the locally made Ansbach brandy added and set on fire to caramelise the sugar. Then the coffee is added with cream on top and a sprinkling of chocolate.

Other sights around the town included the local church...
....intersetinf old buildings....
...one of the former town wall towers...
...and the evening was finished off with a life musical performance.
