El Camino Portuguese Agueda to Albergaria a Velha

El Camino Portuguese

Agueda to Albergaria a Velha...and Agueda, town of umbrellas.

It was going to be a short day, just 17 kilometres, a mornings walk through some villages and fields but quite a bit of forest.

Albergaria had a thing about umbrellas as several shops and hotels had some on display as decoration. I took photos of the main shopping streets yesterday but didn't realise how many places had them.

Another street with umbrellas...
...a local row of shops...
...the entrance to mu hotel...
...and more umbrellas...
...shade for cafe goers...
...and art was everywhere...
...even boarded up shops had colourful boards and the effect added to by painted seats and lamp posts...
...murals and more seats....

...and painted steps.

This house has four umbrellas plus sitting on the wall in front of the door was another large green frog.
I haven't seen one of these for many years, a communal laundrette fed by a local spring where people can wash their clothes by hand.
A photo of the insides, one tub for washing and one for rinsing with sloping concrete sides to really work had on those stubborn stains.

The Roman bridge across the river which ElCamino follows seen from the new bridge which now carries all the traffic.

This pillar box seems to have lost its black stand.
