A modern city with a lot of high rises and modern industrial estates.
I had an afternoon to visit the Red Prison. It was where Saddam Husseins secret police tortured people.

It is now a museum showing Kurdish resistance and genocide exhibits but when the Peshmerga captured it, the guards that hadn't died in the fighting or executed by the liberators were lynched by the local population in revenge.
