Volubllus

This is one of the oldest roman cites in the area and one of their most easterly cities. It is a ruined site having been abandoned in 808AD when the king of the area moved his capital to Meknes. There are a few walls still standing but the majority of the city is just ruins.
There is a museum here in a modern building built into the hillside so that it doesn't dominate the site. It is a fairly extensive site and alleged to be the largest Roman ruins discovered. I did the photos but the internet is poor and I can't load photos. This one took most of the afternoon! Check the internet for more details.

Then it was off to Meknes for a cook shop and finally on to Mohammadia to a camp site on the coast just north of Casablanca for a couple of nights.
