Chefchaouen

The campsite was located up a hill side under one of the many peaks in the area.
But it was to be a long and steep walk down the hill to the town.
Outside the city walls were several graves dug into the hill side, and the city wall can just be seen in the background. The city is one of the oldest medieval Islamic city that still exist virtually unaltered and it is very picturesque and largely unspoilt.
A detail of one of the towers in the city wall.
Inside the gates there are a maze of narrow streets an steep alleys.

In the centre of the town is the casbah or fortress which is open to the public.
A view of the outside face of the fortress.
The main square under the shadow of the fortress.
A fountain near the main square.

The municipal building in another square and in the same square...
...was the central market where prices are low and there are all sorts of fresh produce on sale.
Some colourful fruit...
...and one of my favourite food groups, fish.

I often start collecting photos of something that catches my eye to create a collection. This trip it might just be doorways...here are a selection from Chefchaouen.
