Futuleutu 11th - 13th January

We crossed over the border again as on The Argentinian side is Route No 40 and running parallel to it in Chile is Route 7 or Carretera Austral which is another scenic must do drive with more stunning scenery, a road that took twenty years to build to link all the communities in the south of the country. Just like Route 40 it goes through some stunning and varied scenery.

This is a stunning lake and I haven't photo shopped it, i't really is that colour!

There were both trekking and rafting options available. It was raining and it didn't matter which option you took but you would get wet!

A couple of bends in the river taken from the trekking path that rafters would need to negotiate. Needless to say some of the rafters did fall out and got soaked to the skin.

The cliffs towered above the river for hundreds of metres but the tops were often obscured by the low clouds and constant heavy rain which got trekkers wet to the skin.
It was classified as a road and there was the occasional 4x4 but it otherwise very quiet as you walked along the rough gravel track.
At the camp site there was a communal hut and everyone was wet and wanted to both get warm and dry their clothes, and hence the Chinese laundry look with clothes hanging from wires across the open central area.
