Caye Caulker boat trip, Sunday 20th September

There was another storm during the night and it was calmer by morning but still overcast. We were due to depart at 10am for a boat trip and guided snorkel along the reef so it gave a little time to explore the island and hand my washing in to a laundry. The main road along the island.

Speed bumps, Caye Caulker style, a thick piece of rope nailed to the ground.
The local airport or more accurately, air strip and terminal building with sea at both ends so best not to over shot the landing strip.

The main street, empty of people but I was very early.
The industrial port on the west coast with landing craft to carry heavy vehicles when required and the generator that powers the islands electricity which hums away day and night.

Then 10am arrived and due to the weather the departure had been postponed to allow the swell to calm and the clouds to dissipate. Soon we had collected our snorkelling gear and we were away.

Rob the captain steering us to our first of three stops with L to R Laurence, Clare, John, Rob the captain and Tracey.
After guided swims to see small fish and corals we got to see some sharks and swim up close.
We were flying several flags, of which this was but one.
Some of the passengers were a bit boisterous....L to R Helen, Laurence, Lisa, John and Zoe.
which is hard work when you are trying to steer. below R to L, Shankill, crew, Marvin, crew, Nicole partly obscuring Rob the captain who obviously had had too much rum punch and had left me to steer and then Clare and Tracey and finally two of the five Israelis who had joined us on the boat and didn't know what they were in for!
