Belize Independence Day, Monday 21st September

 

Its a bank holiday Monday and just like at home it was raining. Nothing is open and there was no one about except for the volunteers from the dogs home who were taking the dogs for a walk.

 Rain is hard to pick out on photos but the down pipe was spilling water like crazy. Unfortunately it emptied onto a tin roof adding to the cacophony of noise.

 In the afternoon the parade started with horns, whistles, sirens and singing. It was lively and noisy and luckily it had stopped raining and it seemed that the whole island had turned out...including the whole police force, the traffic cops on their motor bikes and the firemen.

 After the parade had passed I revisited the Split an took a couple of photos in the daylight.
